The first cast member to be declared — that coincided with the general Season 3 statement — Mahershala Ali can boast true Detective as his newest must-watch series after having starred in House of Cards and Luke Cage. Character information is not just overwhelming at this time, but we know that the actor will play titular detective Wayne Hays, who works for the state authorities in Northwest Arkansas. As we have seen in seasons ago, just because somebody is on the right side of this law does not mean they are liberated of making terrible decisions that unleash horrifying conditions. In that manner, Ali could be in for quite the hard performance. There are some interesting and brave cast are given below of true Detective Season 3.

Currently playing very the wicked character on Fox’s Star, actor Stephen Dorff is heading to True Detective to get a function that will hopefully be a bit more empathetic to his fellow human beings. Since Roland West, Dorff are the Arkansas State Investigator partner to Mahershala Ali’s Wayne Hays. The lives and careers of the men, and those of others, have been heavily affected by the above crime in the core of the season. After having not taken a lead role on a proper TV series in almost 3 decades, Dorff is definitely making up for lost time, and we are expecting to see the celebrity put all his talents on screen for HBO.

Maybe some clues to the large mysterious crime lie with the character being played by Alien: Covenant and Fantastic Beasts celebrity Carmen Ejogo. How significant are these kids, and what exactly does Ms. Reardon understand that nobody else does? TV fans will even recognize Ejogo from current characters, as she headed Season 2 of Starz’s The Girlfriend Experience, and also starred in ABC’s short-lived Zero Hour a few years ago.

2017 was a huge year for Scoot McNairy’s television career, with new roles on Fargo Season 3 along with Netflix’s Godless complementing his outstanding swan song as Halt and Catch Fire’s Gordon Clark. Do not expect any big laughs from the celebrity in Authentic Detective, where he will play Tom, a father who faces a tragic loss, and it is one which just so happens to tie into both of the aforementioned state detectives. Are those lost kids his? That sounds likely.

We’ve got yet another interesting name scenario happening with recurring character Henry Hays, who will be played with actor Rhys Wakefield, possibly best known here at the U.S. as the polite leader in the original The Purge movie, though Australian audiences probably recognize him by the long-running Home and Away. Unfortunately, we’re not sure at all just yet who Henry Hays is, or how he’ll factor to the overarching narrative. It appears mighty likely he and Wayne Hays will have some type of background together, but how deep and dark that background is, we cannot yet suspect.

That character’s future is uncertain at this point, but we do know that Greyeyes landed a brilliant follow-up gig with Authentic Detective, and we’re hoping this next outing is as good as Fear’s was. . .well, we’re not exactly sure yet. All we really know is that the celebrity has joined the season in an ongoing capacity, and we are expecting he’ll deliver some powerful performances, limited though they are.

Jon Tenney

Jon Tenney was a TV mainstay for many years, together with his long-running stint as The Closer’s Fritz Howard serving as a member of his most significant roles. Most recently seen in shows such as Major Crimes, Longmire and Scandal, Tenney will leap over to HBO in a recurring capacity to play Alan Jones. Tenney has good complexion for intense scenes, so here is hoping they get utilized.
